About Vienna
Vienna is consistently ranked as one of the most livable cities in the world. Besides its imperial heritage (which is typically associated with the city), Vienna has a lot more to offer to the curious visitor.
This year, Vienna celebrates the 150th anniversary of famous modernist painter Gustav Klimt. Detailed information about the programme and expositions is available here.
On a different note, did you know Vienna has had a socialist government without interruption since 1919? "Karl Marx-Hof", one of the best known municipal tenement complexes in Vienna, holds the distinction of being the longest single residential building in the world!
For more traditional sights and further things to do in Vienna, we recommend a visit to www.wien.info. Note that KONVENS 2012 ends on Friday, September 21, so the weekend may be a good opportunity to stroll through the city.
Conference Dinner
Vienna is the only capital city worldwide that is home to several noteworthy winegrowers. In recognition of this considerable achievement, the conference dinner of KONVENS 2012 will take place in one of Vienna's typical wine taverns (Heuriger), "10er Marie" (how to get there).
